TPAD is a teacher’s performance evaluation mechanism that assesses the performance of a Kenyan teacher as per the set standards prescribed by the established Commission.
Section 52 of the established Code of Regulations for Teachers (2015) stipulates that the Commission
will in administering the performance appraisal system:-
- Require all Heads of an institution to provide oversight role in the performance assessment for the teachers in their respective institutions;
- Use the performance evaluation reports for the purpose of promotion, deployment, and other bonuses as may be prescribed from time to time.
- Recognize training needs and take remedial measures in cases of unsatisfactory performance.
- Develop and review standards, guidelines, and tools for performance appraisal from moment to moment, which shall be accessible on the commission’s official website or as the Commission may advise.
How to create TSC TPAD Portal
Creating a new TPAD account is simple and more manageable. Follow these steps:
- Click on https://tpad2.tsc.go.ke/auth/create_account to access the new account creation portal.

- Click on ‘Create’ Once done.
- A success message is shown and you will receive SMS token on your phone within a short time.
- Enter the Code received via SMS and click on ‘Verify Token’. This completes the registration process.
Adding your Bio-Data to the portal
Next, you will need to add your level of Education and the subject combination details.
- Add your information: including Bio/ Institution Information, Contact Information.
- Select the ‘Subjects Combination’ and add your teaching subjects. Select your preferred subject combinations from the list and click on the ‘Submit’ button when done.
- Then, click on the ‘Level of Education’ option to add details. Select your KCSE grade, the highest level of Education, and also the Institution of Study. Next, click on the Submit button.
ROLES OF THE TEACHERS IN THE NEW TPAD
Every teacher will be expected to do a self-appraisal in the different areas, create an assessment and upload the data online.
ROLES OF THE PRINCIPAL IN THE NEW TPAD
- Inducting new teachers on TPAD
- Take the new teachers in TIMS.
- Activating new teachers on TPAD
- Transfer outgoing teachers
The Principal also performs the following roles in TPAD.
- Provide oversight function in the performance appraisal for the teachers
- Continuously observe and evaluate the appraisal process and submit termly reports.
- Appraise the school Deputy Principal
- Schedule meetings for evaluating the Deputy Principal
- Observing the Deputy Principal
- Countersigning manager for all the teachers in the school Arbitration
