how to get a TSC number

The TSC Act 2012 demands that every qualified teacher to be registered by the Teachers Service Commission, before they can be allocated duties in any school in Kenya, be it a private school or public school.

To back this new TSC act by the government, the ministry of education published a directive in late 2016 to all the county commissioners to guarantee that only qualified teachers to access classrooms as from 2017. A qualified teacher in Kenya is the one who has been duly registered by the Teacher Service Commission and given a certificate of registration.

If you are a qualified teacher and you don’t have a TSC number, no need to bother anymore. I’m going to lead you through how to secure one easily plus the requirements.

Its good to perceive that TSC does not acknowledge any application made manually. This indicates that everything is done online.

To start the whole process of getting a TSC number, the following key documents are scanned, to make them more accessible to upload;

  • All your academic certificates ( primary KCPE, secondary KCSE, university or college)
  • College/ university transcripts.
  • Your photo (a passport sized)
  • Banking slip of a non-refundable enrollment fee (Ksh 1055 and Ksh 2055 for a Duplicate certificate), this is to be deposited in the following TSC Registration bank Accounts National Bank of Kenya (for a Direct Banking, the account number is 01001000905001, or for Simple Banking use this Pay Bill Business Number which is 625625).

Remember that without this amount, registration won’t be processed.

After scanning all the needed documents, go to www.teachersonline.go.ke/Regintro.aspx and begin the registration process.

Once you have finished all the online process, it will take less than a month before the TSC number is assigned to you. To check whether you have successfully been allocated a TSC number click here teacher registration status and use your National ID number.
